This Candle’s History
Old Milwaukee started in the 1930s as an affordable, easy-drinking beer from the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company in Milwaukee. Wartime grain shortages briefly halted it in the 1940s, but it returned in 1959 and became a lasting working-man’s favorite.
As Schlitz’s fortunes shifted, the brand moved to the Stroh Brewery in 1982 and then to Pabst around 2000. Your can dates from 1971, when Old Milwaukee was riding high as one of America’s best-known value beers. It’s still brewed today.
A note: Pull Tab Candle Co. is an independent small business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Old Milwaukee or its parent companies. Every can we use is a genuine vintage original, sourced one at a time from collectors and estate sales, then cleaned and hand-poured here in Minneapolis.
