History
Labatt was founded in 1847 in London, Ontario, by John Kinder Labatt, an Irish immigrant who’d come to Canada as a farmer before going into brewing with partner Samuel Eccles. The family business grew over generations into the largest brewer in Canada, famous for its ales and lagers.
Labatt is still very much around: globally it’s part of Anheuser-Busch InBev, while in the United States its beers have been handled independently since 2009. Your can dates from Labatt’s 1970s heyday as a Canadian icon.
A note: Pull Tab Candle Co. is an independent small business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Labatt or its parent companies. Every can we use is a genuine vintage original, sourced one at a time from collectors and estate sales, then cleaned and hand-poured here in Minneapolis.
