History
Grain Belt was born in 1890 when four Minneapolis breweries merged into the Minneapolis Brewing & Malting Company. The Grain Belt name arrived in 1893, celebrating the rich farm country of America’s grain belt. For generations it was a Twin Cities staple, brewed right in northeast Minneapolis until that brewing ended in 1975.
The brand outlived its original home: today Grain Belt is brewed by the August Schell Brewing Company in New Ulm, Minnesota, which has kept the Minnesota classic alive since 2002.
A note: Pull Tab Candle Co. is an independent small business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Grain Belt or its parent companies. Every can we use is a genuine vintage original, sourced one at a time from collectors and estate sales, then cleaned and hand-poured here in Minneapolis.
