This Candle’s History
Like its sibling Red Cap, Black Label comes from Carling, the brewery English farmer Thomas Carling founded in London, Ontario, after settling there in 1818. The beer was renamed Black Label in 1927 as part of a company rebrand, and it became Carling’s flagship, eventually the first beer brewed on a mass international scale.
In the U.S. it was made in Cleveland and, from 1956, at a big plant in Natick, Massachusetts. The brand remains a best-seller in Britain.
A note: Pull Tab Candle Co. is an independent small business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Carling Black Label or its parent companies. Every can we use is a genuine vintage original, sourced one at a time from collectors and estate sales, then cleaned and hand-poured here in Minneapolis.
