History
Andeker was Pabst’s premium, European-style lager — the brewery’s bid for something more refined than its everyday beer. First introduced in 1939, it was retired in the 1960s, then brought back from 1972 to 1986, which is the era your can comes from. The name nods to Andechs, the centuries-old Bavarian monastery brewing tradition Pabst wanted to evoke.
Pabst itself traces back to 1844 in Milwaukee. Andeker faded as a mainstream brand in 1986, with only a brief Milwaukee taproom revival decades later.
A note: Pull Tab Candle Co. is an independent small business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Andeker or its parent companies. Every can we use is a genuine vintage original, sourced one at a time from collectors and estate sales, then cleaned and hand-poured here in Minneapolis.
